Warrior Run falls in close game against Central Columbia
Warrior Run held a 6-point lead with 3 minutes, 49 seconds to play, but a late drive by Central Columbia secured the win. Auston Rainer scored with 1:19 remaining to put Central Columbia ahead, 27-26, and the defense didn’t allow Warrior Run to lead.
Samuel Hall had an 8-yard run with 3:49 to play that gave Warrior Run a lead. The two teams played close the entire night.
Central Columbia held a 7-0 lead after the first quarter before a 9-yard run by Hall cut the deficit to 7-6. Central Columbia increased its lead to 13-6 on a Nathan Smith 3-yard run, but Derrick Thomas reeled in a 13-yard TD pass from Ryan Newton with 25 seconds to go until halftime to trail, 13-12.
Hall led Warrior Run’s ground game with 47 yards and two touchdowns. Newton had success throguh the air, throwing for 204 yards and two touchdowns. Thomas had a team-high 117 yards and two touchdowns on eight receptions.
Greyson Shaud ran for 181 yards and Smith ran for 112 for the Blue Jays.
