Local brewery wins 2022 Craft Beer Marketing awards

New Trail Brewing Co. brought home big wins from the 2022 Craft Beer Marketing Awards which judges over 500 industry professionals from over 24 countries around the world, according to a press release.

Fourteen wins all-together had Pennsylvania ties, which is nothing short of an honor to celebrate.

New Trail, of Arch Street in the city, won one Platinum Crushie award and one Gold Crushie award.

According to the CBMA’s website, a Platinum Crushie award is given to the company that has “demonstrated marketing and branding excellence and exceeded the defined category objectives by using strategy, creativity and overall innovation.”

New Trail was in the Best Brand Identity/Unique Logo Design category for this win and it was designed by Ryan Keates @ Foxduck Design, a design collaboration between Lancaster and Williamsport.

In the Best Can Design/Best Beer Series, New Trail won the Gold Crushie award for their State Park Series in which the can design reflects that of a state park according to Don Rieck, marketing director at New Trail.

The Gold Crushie award “marks the beginning of what will become a long tradition of prestigious recognition and merit for brewery marketing,” according to the CBMA website.

It also notes that the judges panel for this award seeks out “innovative production techniques to achieve a perceived, higher level of uniqueness.”

First Sip Studios, of Pittsburgh; Independent Brewing, of Hershey; and Ever Grain Brewing Co., of Camp Hill have also won Platinum and Gold Crushie awards according to the press release.

The Craft Beer Marketing Awards was created in 2019 “to give recognition to the best of the best in the marketing realm of the brewing industry,” according to the press release.

“We were so impressed by the sheer creativity, innovation and caliber of marketing displayed in entries from around the world in every category,” said CBMAs Co-Founder Jim McCune in a press release.

A total of 250 awards were presented to winning designers, marketing agencies and brewers. There were 89 Platinum Crushie award winners, 135 Gold Crushie award winners and 26 Global Crushie award winners.
