Falling in love at the Oval Methodist Church

Bob and Patty Renicke celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 12, 2019.

The couple met at the Oval Methodist Church in November 1965 while Bob came from Granite City to visit his aunt. Pat knew that this was going to be the man she would marry, and four years later, she did.

They were married on July 12, 1969, at the Oval Methodist Church, Oval, by Rev. Frank McCaslin and Rev. Daniel Milhein, brother of the bride, during a candlelit ceremony.

The former Patty Backus is a retired vascular technologist from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.

Bob is a retired maintenance technician from Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Christ has always been the main focus of their lives. They are the parents of Lisa Marie Schaaf Varble and have two grandchildren.

The couple renewed their vows on July 13 at First Baptist Church in Jerseyville, Illinois, officiated by Rev. Brent Meyer. Family and friends are welcome.
