Broadway musical ‘Nerds’ finds its Bill Gates and Steve Jobs

NEW YORK (AP) – “Nerds,” a new Broadway musical about the tech giants Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, will star Rory O’Malley and Bryan Fenkart.

The show, which begins previews in April at the Longacre Theatre, “plugs into the epic rivalry between two of our culture’s biggest icon.” O’Malley, a Tony Award nominee for “The Book of Mormon,” plays Gates, and Fenkart, who was in “Memphis,” will play Jobs. Others in the cast include Patti Murin (“Lysistrata Jones”) Lindsay Mendez (“Wicked”) Rob Morrison (“Avenue Q”) and Kevin Pariseau (“Legally Blonde”).

The show features book and lyrics by Jordan Allen-Dutton and Erik Weiner (Adult Swim’s animated “Robot Chicken”) and music by Hal Goldberg. Casey Hushion will direct.

“Nerds” first was presented in the New York Musical Theatre Festival and later at Philadelphia Theatre Company.
