Thomas T. Taber Museum to host lecture and book-signing
The Thomas T. Taber Museum, 858 W. Fourth St., will host a lecture and book-signing for Lorena Beniquez’s book, “Lost Coal Country of Northeastern Pennsylvania”, at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Lorena Beniquez captures the oral and physical history of the anthracite region in her book. Although the great-granddaughter of a coal miner, Beniquez knew little of her family’s history in the mines so she set out on a journey to recover not only her own history but that of countless families.
“Lost Coal Country of Northeastern Pennsylvania” documents the region’s disappearing history which shaped the legacy of the United States and the Industrial Revolution. In addition to being a history book, this also is a field guide to the heritage sites that still remain, including the state’s last coal breaker.
The book will be available in the Museum Store and for the book signing, which will follow the lecture.
For more information, call 570-326-3326 or visit www.tabermuseum.org.
