Welcome to the World of Comics, ComicCon

JVB Check It Out

How does a comic book, graphic novel or manga get published? What does a publisher look for in the books they choose? How does a book become a movie, animation, series or a game?

“Welcome to the World of Comics, Graphic Novels, Manga and ComicCon,” presented by John Shableski, from 6 to 7 p.m. March 4 at the James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St.

If you are a storyteller of any age, come join in on this conversation about the publishing, gaming and comic con industry. This one-hour session will include a slide presentation followed by a question and answer session.

Shableski has spent the past 15 years working with publishers, authors, librarians, teachers and booksellers in the comics, graphic novel, and animation publishing industries. He has produced over 600 hours of professional development programs and has also been a featured speaker at conferences and conventions from Seoul to Toronto and from San Diego to New York City.

This event will take place in celebration of Will Eisner Week. This national celebration highlights Will Eisner, who was a highly innovative and creative artist and writer who pioneered in the field of comics and graphic novels. He strongly advocated for the inclusion of graphic novels in library collections and sequential art on museum walls.
