Muncy Public Library to celebrate grand re-opening

PHOTO PROVIDED The Muncy Public Library will celebrate its grand re-opening later in August.

The Muncy Public Library, 108 S. Main St., invites the community to join in a grand re-opening celebration on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at 1 p.m.

The Library received funding through a Community Development Block Grant provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development. This project provided the library with a new back sidewalk, automatic back door entrance, a designated ADA accessible parking space, a renovated ADA compliant restroom and an elevator to make the collection and public computers available to all patrons.

Saturday’s celebration will give the public the opportunity to meet and greet the Library Board of Trustees, library director and staff, county commissioners, library donors and others from the Muncy community. Families will enjoy light refreshments, live music, face painting and games. The Friends of the Muncy Library will be holding a used book sale in the Library Annex.

“It will be a great day to celebrate all our library has to offer our town,” said library director Corey Breneisen. “The Muncy Library is truly a gathering place for all members of our community. Now with the addition of the elevator, more of our patrons will have access to the wealth of resources available.”

The Muncy Library is part of a national “Libraries Transform” effort to increase awareness of the changing role of libraries and the ways in which libraries are transforming to meet the information needs of their users. Libraries are community centers of information, technology and learning that will fuel educational and economic opportunity for all of our citizens.

Registration for the Grand Re-opening is suggested, but not required. If you would like to register, please call 570-546-5014.

The Muncy Public Library is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; and 24/7 at www.muncylibrary.com.
