$4,000 grant to plant native species

Loyalsock Foundation recently announced that it is the recipient of a $4,000 Healing the Planet grant from The GIANT Company, known locally as Giant and Martin’s and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful to encourage the planting of more native species in local communities. According to a news release, Loyalsock Foundation will use the funding to remove invasive honeysuckle at the entrance to The Summit: Center for Wellness in Laporte and replace it with native Pennsylvania mountain laurel and rhododendron shrubs. MACKEYVILLE -- The 53rd annual Clinton County Fair earned even more royalty this week as multiple girls competed in the fair princess contests. The contest took place at the start of fair week on Sunday, and saw 21 girls running from ages 3 to 15 perform in front of a panel of judges. Each contestant was scored on their personal introduction, personality, dress wear and fun outfit while responding to open ended questions. Some even had the opportunity to showcase a special talent.
