(EDITOR’S NOTE: Due to program changes at STEP’s Office of Aging, the Williamsport Sun-Gazette’s March edition of the Senior Sun does not include the area’s monthly activities or menus for STEP centers.)

The Lycoming-Clinton Counties Commission for Community Action (STEP), Inc., is a Community Action Agency primarily serving Lycoming and Clinton counties. STEP houses over 30 programs. Accordingly, response to the present COVID-19 situation will vary program to program.

As of March 17, program changes include:

Office of Aging, Meals on Wheels

All STEP Centers for Healthy Aging will be temporarily closed to older adults until further notice.

Meals on Wheels will continue to operate, utilizing non-volunteer delivery personnel and remote check-ins to protect vulnerable individuals.

STEP Office of Aging social services will continue to be available. For more information, call 570-323-3096.

STEP Transportation is reducing trips to those that are life-sustaining, including medical appointments and grocery shopping. For more information, call 570-323-3096.

Additional programing, information

The AARP Tax-Aide program has suspended tax preparations until further notice.

STEP Service Navigation and Housing are putting safeguards in place to mitigate risks such as over-the-phone case management, pre-construction checks.
