Apple ‘n’ Cheese Festival art show announces judges
CANTON – Organizers of the Pennsylvania Apple ‘n’ Cheese Fine Art and Photo Show have announced the judges for the Oct. 1 and 2 show. The show is part of the annual Apple ‘n’ Cheese Festival and will be held at Manley-Bohlayer Farm, East Canton Cross Road, East Canton. Gates open at 10 a.m. on both days.
Paul Barrett will judge fine art entries for this year’s show. A retired art and photography teacher of 36 years from the Loyalsock Township School District, Barrett taught art to every grade level from kindergarten through senior high school. He has a degree in art education from Mansfield University and a master’s degree in fine arts photography from Bloomsburg University.
Barrett also is show chairperson for the Susquehanna Valley Shutterbugs and works as a photographer for West Branch Life magazine. He has juried on various regional art shows and facilitated workshops in the arts.
The 2016 photography judge will be John Mattoon of Elmira, New York, who judged the Apple ‘n’ Cheese art show in 2009.
Mattoon is the owner of B&C Photo Inc. in Elmira. He was born in Elmira and has lived in the area all his life. After high school graduation, John was employed at B&C Photo Inc., where his love for photography became a professional goal. He graduated from Elmira College with a bachelor’s degree in art in 2000.
In 2001, Mattoon purchased B&C Photo and encourages local photographers by offering classes photography shows and contests. Mattoon also is a co-founder of Southern Tier Organization of Photographers.
