Croctoberfest celebrates Oktoberfest and furthers conservation
ALLENWOOD – Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland, 18628 Route 15, will host Croctoberfest, a crocodilian conservation event, from 7-10 p.m. Oct. 1.
The Oktoberfest-themed event will explain the importance of crocodilians and why they need help. Attendees also will enjoy complimentary beer tastings, a German-inspired menu, live music and crocodile encounters and feedings. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Crocodilian Advisory Group.
Croctoberfest attendees will receive a souvenir tasting glass to sample brews from seven local breweries: Riepstine’s Pub and Brewery; Marzoni’s Brick Oven and Brewing Co.; Civil War Cider; Turkey Hill Brewing Co.; Marley’s Brewery and Grille; Isle of Que Brew; and Bullfrog Brewery. A menu of German foods will be provided by the Genetti Hotel and Suites. Live music will include classic rock covers and other popular tunes by The Mallards. Zoo keepers will introduce guests to crocodilians with special encounters and feedings throughout the evening.
“Crocodilians are keystone predators and when they disappear, it alters entire ecosystems,” Clyde Peeling said. “It’s important to find ways for humans and crocs to coexist. While large crocs are potentially dangerous, accidents can be reduced through education in order to protect these fascinating reptiles from extinction.”
Tickets for this event are available now and can be bought in person or by calling 570-538-1869. More information about Croctoberfest can be found at www.reptiland.com.
