Penny Eckman, Pat Davis to team up for ‘Leading Ladies’ show
CANTON – Penny Eckman, known for her renditions of Patsy Cline, will return to the Rialto stage, with a performance at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Rialto Theatre, 5 E. Main St., with fellow performer Pat Davis to perform as “Leading Ladies.”
Leading Ladies is a collection of familiar pop, country, blues, jazz and Broadway tunes made famous by ladies, such as Billie Holiday, Sophie Tucker, Patsy Cline, Aretha Franklin and Barbra Streisand, since the 1920s.
Eckman has been singing since she was young, and is a professional singer with more than 30 years of experience. She is most notably known in the area for her one-woman show “Penny Sings Patsy.” She continues to perform Cline’s music at more than 200 concert venues across the east coast and Midwest.
Davis accompanies Eckman performing together and as a soloist on piano, playing ragtime and blues inspired selections. Raised in Wellsboro, her love for music was fostered by her father who played in a dance band, and with the purchase of her first piano at age 10. She performed professionally at age 13, accompanying her dad’s band at the Charleston High School.
