Willie Watson to perform as part of Rusty Rail Live series
MIFFLINBURG – Willie Watson, founding member of Old Crow Medicine Show and member of Dave Rawlings Machine, will put on an exclusive intimate show at 8 p.m. Friday at the Rusty Rail Brewing Co., 5 N. Eighth St., as part of its Rusty Rail Live series.
Looking like someone from leaner and meaner times, Watson sings and plays his heart out on his guitar and banjo. He’s fresh off his tour as part of Dave Rawlings Machine, where he captured fans with his quiet gravitas.
“There’s a lot of weight in the way Willie performs,” said David Rawlings, longtime friend and producer of Watson’s previous band, Old Crow Medicine Show. “He’s had some tragedy in his life, which has informed his art. There’s an emotional edge to what he does because of who he is as a human being. He’s the only one of his generation I listen to who can make me forget these songs were ever sung before.”
Tickets for the Willie Watson show are available at www.rustyrailbrewing.com/watson or at the door.
Featuring popular and up-and-coming artists, Rusty Rail Live showcases single acts and full bands performing their own take on Americana, folk, bluegrass, alternative country, country, blues, jazz, soul and rock.
Alexis P. Suter and Driftwood also will hit the Rusty Rail Live stage in September, and additional shows are booked through the end of the year.
