The Beach Boys to play Community Arts Center

The Beach Boys “Reason for the Season Christmas Tour” is coming to the Community Arts Center, 220 West Fourth St., at 7 p.m. on Dec. 12.

Celebrate the Holidays with the The Beach Boys as they perform songs from their 1964 Beach Boys Christmas Album with songs like “Little Saint Nick” and “Merry Christmas Baby” along with all of their memorable hits including songs like; “Fun Fun Fun”, “Surfin’ USA” and “Good Vibrations”.

The Beach Boys mark more than a half century of making music, the group continues to ride the crest of a wave unequalled in America’s musical history. The group has become synonymous with the California lifestyle and have become an American icon to fans around the world.

As the lead-singer and front man, Mike Love is also one of rock’s foremost songwriters. The Beach Boys first hit, “Surfin'” (1961) came from his pen as he went on to write other classic Beach Boys’ hits; Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Help Me Rhonda” and Grammy nominated “Good Vibrations.” Years later he showed he still had the lyrical chops by co-writing the chart topping and Golden Globe nominated (1988) “Kokomo“. Dozens of the bands chart toppers have become eternal anthems of American youth including: “Surfin’ USA,” “Surfer Girl,” “Barbara Ann,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” and “Rock and Roll Music.”

In 2016 The Beach Boys celebrated the 50th anniversary of “Good Vibrations” which is widely considered one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of Rock ‘n’ roll. Front man Mike Love released his highly- anticipated New York Times best-selling memoir titled “GOOD VIBRATIONS: My Life as a Beach Boy.” Most recently Love released a special double album through BMG entitled “Unleash the Love” featuring 13 previously unreleased songs and 14 re-recordings of Beach Boys’ classics. The album is a testament and continuation of Love’s remarkable career.

The Beach Boys have sold over 100 million albums worldwide and have received more than 33 RIAA Platinum and Gold record awards. The Rock And Roll Hall of Famers where honored at the 2001 Grammy Awards with the Lifetime Achievement Award. With more than five decades of touring under their belts, The Beach Boys have performed more concerts than any major rock band in history.

In 2013, “Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys,” a 30-track collection of the band’s biggest hits, achieved triple-platinum success selling more than three million copies in the U.S. along with its’ companion “The Warmth of the Sun,” The Beach Boys renewed interest has again rocked the world.

The Beach Boys are led by Love and Bruce Johnston, who along with Jeffrey Foskett, Christian Love, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill, Keith Hubacher and Scott Totten continue the legacy of the iconic American band.

Captained by Mike Love, The Beach Boys play an astoundingly busy schedule of concerts, averaging 150 shows a year, ranging from sundrenched summer festivals to gala New Year’s celebrations and special events across the globe.
