Charles Dickens’ descendant to perform ‘A Christmas Carol’ at Country Cupboard

LEWISBURG — If anyone overhears an old miser growling “Bah Humbug,” it’s likely to be Ebenezer Scrooge — or maybe some distant relative.

In this case, the relative is Charles Dickens’ great-great-grandson, who returns to Central Pennsylvania to recreate “A Christmas Carol.”

The one-man show will be presented at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Country Cupboard Restaurant, 101 Hafer Road.

Gerald “Charles” Dickens is actually the great-great-grandson of famed author Charles Dickens. An accomplished actor, director and producer, Gerald has created his own one-man rendition of this timeless classic.

Inspired by Charles Dickens’ 1860s masterpiece, the presentation features an captivating reading of “A Christmas Carol,” complete with Scrooge’s initial denial that the three spirits who visit him are anything more than “an undigested piece of beef.”

But there’s no denying Gerald “Charles” Dickens’ popularity with area audiences, as he has returned every year since 2009 for his one-man show.

A dinner-theater event, Country Cupboard confirms that there are also a limited number of “show only” tickets available.
