Christ Wesleyan Theatre Productions opens auditions for ‘Murder On the Orient Express’

MILTON — There’s no mistaking who holds the title of Grand Dame of Murder Mysteries — it’s Agatha Christie!

Christ Wesleyan Theatre Productions will turn to the British novelist and one of her most popular works, “Murder On the Orient Express,” for its next production.

Auditions for this show (for actors 18 years and up) will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 22, and at 1:00 p.m. on Feb. 23 in The Davis Chapel (Entrance No. 1) at Christ Wesleyan Church, 383 Stamm Road.

Actors are encouraged to visit the website to schedule their audition time slot. Walk-ins will be given a time slot/return time at the end of the day. It is noted that there are only three slots per day to be filled, and “they will be filled quickly.”

Directed by Pastor Ryan Brosious, “Murder On the Orient Express,” which is this summer’s production, will be presented as a dinner-theatre murder mystery on June 18-20.

This stage version of the Agatha Christie novel has been adapted by America’s popular playwright Ken Ludwig, and features the retired Belgian police officer and private detective Hercule Poirot.

According to the storyline, an elegant train of the 1930s, the Orient Express, is forced to stop in its tracks by a heavy snowdrift. An American tycoon has been murdered in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, with his door locked from the inside.

Detective Poirot’s trip home to London from the Middle East is obviously interrupted, as he sets out to solve the baffling murder.

Actors auditioning to be cast need not attend Christ Wesleyan — or any church for that matter.
