‘Fantasticks’ in Lewisburg in September
LEWISBURG — Because the RiverStage Community Theatre can not currently stage any production indoors at its home at the Greenspace Center — the old Lewisburg High School — it has been announced that “the show must go on” — outdoors.
RiverStage is mounting a free outdoor production pf “The Fantasticks” at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 18, 19 and 20 at Hufnagle Park in Lewisburg. Near Bucknell University, Hufnagle Park is located between South 6th and South 5th Street, Lewisburg.
Jove Graham, RiverStage president, directs “The Fantasticks,” billed as “the world’s longest running, most charming musical ever!”
The cast includes Jetta Harrison, Tyler Marvin, Glen Wilson, Fred Hooper, Elaine Pfeil, Steven Stumbris and Trey Casimir.
Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones penned this funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl, and their two fathers who try to keep them apart. The narrator asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic.
“The Fantasticks” ran Off-Broadway for over 42 years, and features the popular “Try to Remember” as its signature tune.
Graham emphasizes that masking and social distancing safety measures will be in effect, with absolutely free admission as “our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our community.”
But with substantial costs to produce this intimate musical, including licensing rights, music and materials, RiverStage requests donations at www.gofundme.com/riverstage-fantasticks.
