‘Christmas Spectacular’ a drive-thru experience

The annual Skip Hunsinger Christmas Spectacular will be held this year, though in a socially distanced format.

COVID-19 has forced the Community Arts Center to take a novel approach this year.

In an attempt to keep this event safe for the community, the 14th annual spectacular will be offered as a drive-through experience by vehicle only.

Cars may start lining up on West Fourth Street in front of the facility at 10 a.m. Dec. 5 to receive goody bags for their children and enjoy a few socially distanced Christmas festivities.

Those include a visit from Santa Claus. The Volunteer Corps will be joined by musical guests Repasz Ensembles, and Autumn Breeze, who will be playing some favorite holiday classics.

Inspired by an event held at the old Capitol Theatre, which included a free movie and gifts for children, the Christmas Spectacular has become a modern holiday tradition at the CAC since 2007.
