Santa Fund, Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas
Happy Thanksgiving! Oops, I mean Merry Christmas!
Time sure does fly by. It seems only yesterday we were thinking of things like the beach, sun, watermelon and Little League! Now, as I reflect on all the good things God has provided for me, I am reminded of the blessings that God gives, too, are meant to be shared. This is especially true as we have come full swing (pun intended, this is baseball town after all) into the Christmas season.
Here at the Salvation Army we have already begun helping elves by speaking to people who could use help putting gifts under the tree for their children. As I write this and the remaining Thanksgiving turkey is waiting in the refrigerator to be made into a delicious sandwich, our building is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
You see Santa, we have been working for some time getting everything organized for a busy Christmas season. The Red Kettles are ringing, toys are being collected and families are coming to us for help. And that brings me to something that I am truly thankful for: The many people who help us bring Christmas cheer to so many.
Santa you and I know the joy that comes to the heart when we are remembered at this time of year and the joy that comes when we help those less fortunate than ourselves. I am so thankful that The Salvation Army can stand as a beacon of hope and help when our friends and neighbors are in need.
With each bell that will ring, each gift that will be wrapped and each meal that is prepared, we are able to remind people of the “reason for the season.”
Long ago our Heavenly Father looked down on His creation and saw people in need of a Savior and Christ came into the world! And each one of us can be a part of that wonderful message when we help others and share Christmas through the work of The Williamsport Salvation Army.
Happy Thanks… oops! Merry Christmas Santa!
