The National AfterSchool Association (NAA), the voice of the after-school profession and lead organization for the advancement of after school professionals and leaders has selected Noah Mantione, Williamsport Branch YMCA School Age Child Care Director, as one of NAA’s 2021 Next Generation of Afterschool Leaders.

The National AfterSchool Association sought to highlight emerging young leaders who are active in the broader after school community, demonstrate contributions that have started to influence beyond individual programs to entire organizations and communities, are actively engaged in efforts to elevate the after-school field, have a proven passion for development of themselves and others, and demonstrate persistence in their work to grow as leaders. Honorees will be profiled in the Spring 2021 issue of NAA’s AfterSchool Today magazine.

Mantione was nominated for this award by his staff members, Nicolas Gordner and Kurt Weiland. “Noah is dedicated to developing our program,” explained Gordner, School Age Childcare Assistant Director. “He supports staff education by providing training opportunities and mentorship to ensure we are meeting the needs of child in our community.”

“I nominated Noah because I feel very supported as a staff member and his work demonstrates how much he truly cares about the children and their families,” said Weiland, School Age Childcare Site Supervisor.

The River Valley Regional YMCA offers School Age Programs through all 6 of their locations in Lycoming, Clinton, Bradford, and Tioga Counties. Mantione’s program at the Williamsport Y offers 4 Before and After School sites along with 3 Summer Day Camp sites and serves approximately 180 kids over the course of a year.

“The program wouldn’t be as successful as it is without my amazing staff,” said Mantione. “They show up every day focused on serving the children in our community and meeting their social, emotional, and educational needs.”
