A memorial gift turned Thanksgiving blessing
What began as a memorial gift paying tribute to two long-time Williamsport legacy families turned into a thanksgiving feast fit for the entire community.
In memory of the lives and service of two long time Williamsport residents, Mr. Franco Daniele, owner of Franco’s Restaurant, and Mr. Ralph Nardi, owner of Canada Dry Bottling of Williamsport, both of whom passed away in 2021, contributions in their memory were made to American Rescue Workers in an amount large enough to feed 500 families on Thanksgiving day.
Of the gift these families said, “it just seemed like the right thing to do…we need to support those who do so much without recognition, and let’s be practical about it, it is in our own backyard.” When the families visited American Rescue Workers to make this donation, they were amazed to learn of all of the ways in which they are serving the community this holiday season.
In addition to the hundreds of holiday meals served to ARW’s homeless shelter residents and the public on Thanksgiving, the organization will again provide a drive-through holiday food distribution on December 21st from 10am-5pm. In partnership with the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, each family will receive more than 70 pounds of food for their family table this Christmas.
For the members of the community who are unable to cook on Christmas day, ARW will again provide a hot-meal to anyone in need at a drive-up meal distribution from 11am-2pm on Christmas day.
In addition to their efforts to feed those who are food insecure, ARW will also be providing Christmas gifts to all 69 men, women, and children who are currently living in their three homeless shelters in the city.
Throughout the winter months, ARW makes warm coats available to anyone in need by visiting the Social Services Center at 337 Bridge Street in Williamsport.
To pay compliment to the generosity of these families, please consider making a gift to support American Rescue Workers this holiday season by sending a check to 643 Elmira Street in Williamsport, donating online at www.arwwilliamsport.org, or by making a cash donation in an
