City man charged with hit-run

After striking Olga Summers’ parked car in the 1100 block of West Fourth Street with his Cadillac DeVille about 7:45 a.m. on Aug. 18, David Braxton asked the woman not to get the city police involved, according to an affidavit.

Braxton, who also goes by “King” and “Rashaw Samson,” offered the woman money for damages to her vehicle, but he was told multiple times to wait until police arrived on the scene, the court document stated. The problem was that Braxton, of 517 Stevens St, apartment 2, was driving with a suspended license.

He gave Summers an expired insurance card before fleeing the scene, police alleged. Police had little difficulty in identifying him as the driver since the entire incident was recovered by a surveillance camera and a witness obtained part of the license plate on his car. Charged with accidents involving damage to attended property (hit-run) and driving with a suspended license, Braxton is free on $2,500 bail.
