Williamsport Symphony Orchestra’s Billtown Brass presents ‘Kick off the Holidays’ concert

The Williamsport Symphony Orchestra’s Billtown Brass Band will be presenting a “Kick Off the Holidays” concert 4:00 PM, Saturday, November 20 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 142 Market Street, Williamsport. The concert is part of the weekend’s Victorian Christmas celebration.

The Billtown Brass Band is a traditional British Brass Band and includes the finest brass and percussion performers in the region. The thirty-member brass and percussion ensemble will perform selections from the fall season’s holidays including Halloween, Veterans Day, Hanukkah and Christmas.

Highlights include Christmas Eve-Sarajevo, On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss, Little Drummer Boy and Rhapsody for Hanukkah. The trombone section feature, Attack of the Killer Trombones, provides the audience with a fun display of “haunted” trombone skills. Frosty the Snowman has Kevin Henry as the trombone soloist. Kevin is an active trombonist and educator in central PA and has performed with major orchestras and contemporary artists throughout the northeast.

Members of the Williamsport Symphony’s Youth Orchestra’s brass will make a guest side-by-side appearance during Silent Night and Sleigh Ride.

• Tickets are available at the door and through the WSO office, 570-322-0227. Suitable for all age groups.
