Some charges dropped against Montgomery man in indecent assault case

A district judge has dismissed 130 charges against a Montgomery man accused of indecently assaulting a child as the case heads to the court of common pleas.

Charles Adams, 38, of Montgomery, allegedly touched a now 13-year-old girl inappropriately between the time she was six and 10 years old, resulting in prosecutors initially levying 337 counts related to sexual abuse of children against him.

Now, those charges are trimmed down to 207 counts related to indecent assault without consent, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.

District Judge John Kemp initially reserved judgment, needing extra time to ponder the charges. He released his decision last week.

District Judge Jerry Lepley arraigned Adams June 2. Adams is currently out on $75,000 bail, and is scheduled for a formal arraignment Dec. 13.
