City man accused of abusing woman for six months

Anthony Williams, 24, of 1017 Race St., Williamsport, allegedly abused a woman over the course of six months, according to city police.

The last incident, on Dec. 26, involved Williams allegedly striking the woman with a closed fist numerous times, according to Zachary Geary, a city police officer.

When she said she wanted to leave the Race Street residence, Williams allegedly opened the door but grabbed her hair, pulled her back in, slammed the door shut and told her she was not permitted to leave.

Geary said the woman allegedly escaped the house the next day when Williams was in the shower by climbing out the window and having family pick her up.

“During the course of speaking with [the victim] I was shown numerous bruises, scratches and bite marks,” Geary wrote.

District Judge Christian Frey arraigned Williams for false imprisonment, strangulation and simple assault. He was initially incarcerated on $50,000 bail, but was later released on unsecured bail.
