Woman charged with DUI

When a state trooper stopped Nichole Gilliard, 28, of 750 W. Edwin St. St., near Nichols Place in the city on Nov. 1, 2020 because she failed to use a turn signal as well an inoperable license plate light, he detected “a strong odor of processed marijuana coming from her 2020 Kia Spectrum,” according to an affidavit. Her eyes were glassy and bloodshot, police said. The trooper suspected that there was “a high probability that the driver was under the influence,” court records stated. Gilliard, who refused to submit a blood test, has been charged with DUI and a warrant for her arrest has been issued after she failed to appear for her preliminary hearing.
