Williamsport man arrested on felony trespassing charge

After a woman told Derrick Edward Everett to get out of her apartment at 739 W. Third St. on March 31 because of his intoxication, the 36-year-old city man later returned and kicked in her locked door while she was away, according to a city police affidavit.

When the woman returned to the apartment with her juvenile son about 8:40 p.m, she found Everettt in her bedroom, court records said. The son ran to a neighbor’s to call police, and when officers arrived, they found Everett — covered with fresh blood on his face, clothes and hands — still in the woman’s bedroom, the affidavit stated. Everett, of 1062 Vine Ave. who was “very intoxicated and confrontational,” was taken into custody on charges of felony trespassing, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, and arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey. Initially jailed, he has since been released on $25,000 bail. Police did not explain how Everett was hurt.
