Williamsport man faces theft charges

Daniel Lisboa, 38, of 1002 Walnut St., has been charged with theft and theft of lost or misplaced property involving a $1,000 cellphone that the owner, a juvenile, discovered missing on the evening of Feb. 11, according to an affidavit filed by Montoursville police.

The charges were filed after the owner’s father, William Guinter, was able to track the whereabouts of his son’s cellphone a short time later to the area of Greevy Road in Loyalsock Township, where Lisboa was riding a bicycle, police said.

When Guinter confronted Lisboa and demanded he surrender the cellphone, Lisboa ditched the bicycle and ran into a field out of sight, police alleged. Guinter found his son’s cellphone in a toolbox strapped to the bicycle, police said, adding that when Lisboa was later questioned, he admitted to picking up the cellphone after finding it in the 1000 block of Loyalsock Avenue in the borough. He is free on $5,000 bail.
