One hurt in crash near Trout Run, dog rescued without a scratch

A 50-year-old Delaware County man was treated at UPMC Williamsport for injuries he suffered when his 2011 Dodge Ram struck an embankment along Route 15 North and went airborne before plunging 50 feet down an embankment about 11:50 a.m. Sunday, state police said. The driver, whose identity was not available, was traveling at a high rate of speed when he crashed just south of the Route 184 interchange, police said. The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, managed to climb up the embankment pretty much on his own after Trout Run volunteer firefighters lowered a rope to him. Riding with him was his dog, Liz, who was not injured, police said. Firefighters safely secured Liz in a fire truck and kept her cooled down back at the firehouse until she could be reunited with her owner.
