Old Lycoming man jailed for allegedly assaulting uncle

Upset that his uncle told him he needed “to clean up after himself,” Alex Morgan started to assault the man late Monday night in the Old Lycoming Township home they share at 1912 Bent Road, Lycoming Regional police alleged in an affidavit. Morgan, 30, “started punching him, breaking his glasses and possibly his nose,” the court document stated. When Morgan stepped outside to smoke a cigarette, his uncle locked him out of the house, but the nephew “climbed in through a dining room window and grabbed a knife which he used” to assault his uncle, police alleged.

In an effort to get away, the uncle went upstairs, but Morgan quickly followed him and stabbed him in the right shin with a second knife, it was alleged in court papers.

“During the altercation, Morgan grabbed him by the throat and began choking him,” the affidavit stated.

Police were not notified of the disturbance until about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, when they were called to the home. Officers saw bruising on several parts of the uncle’s body, and there were stab wounds on his right shin and right thigh, police said.

“It appeared that the victim lost a great amount of blood, and therefore was taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport,” to be treated for his injuries, police said.

Following his arraignment late Tuesday afternoon before District Judge William Solomon on charges of aggravated and simple assault, strangulation and trespassing, Morgan was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
