Suspect in homicide case found with weapon in Columbia County jail
A man awaiting a homicide trial for allegedly killing a Williamsport teenager in 2001 is accused of being found with a sharpened toothbrush in his shorts while in prison in Columbia County.
The Press Enterprise reported Brian Gregory Quinn, 45, had the shank tucked inside his briefs as a guard conducted a surprise search on March 1.
Quinn was incarcerated in Bloomsburg in March 2022 after his arrest as a suspect in the death of 17-year-old Shamar Washington during a drug deal gone bad in Williamsport in January 2001, the paper reported.
Authorities said the teen had been shot, stabbed and beaten before being dumped in Columbia County.
Quinn moved to Woodbury, New Jersey, where U.S. Marshals along with state police took him into custody and returned him to Pennsylvania for prosecution in the cold case, the paper said.
He was charged by Bloomsburg police with illegally possessing or procuring a weapon as an inmate.
