Williamsport area man charged with trying to break into business

Douglas Hockenberry, 42, of 3605 Lycoming Creek Road, lot 23, faces charges for allegedly trying to break into Cotter’s Auto Sales, 2718 Lycoming Creek Road, during the early morning hours of Oct. 18, according to state police. He was nabbed a short time later walking along Lycoming Creek Road, and at the time, he was carrying a metal tool that investigators allege he used to break a window at the business, police said. Arraigned hours later before District Judge Kirsten Garden on charges of felony attempted burglary, possession of an instrument of crime, criminal mischief, trespassing, loitering and disorderly conduct, Hockenberry was released on $35,000 bail. He will have a preliminary hearing next month.
