Marco Garrett, 62 of 1506 Sutton Ave., has been arrested on charges of illegally entering an ex-girlfriend’s home in the 2500 block of West Fourth Street about 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 and assaulting the woman, city police alleged in an affidavit. Garrett slipped into the house through an unlocked side door, walked upstairs to the woman’s bedroom and “began striking her several times in the face and head, causing swelling as she was talking on her cellphone with her current boyfriend,” it was alleged in the court document. Garrett then jumped on the woman and forcibly took her cellphone from her, police said. The couple had separated in January, police were told. Charged with felony burglary, felony trespassing, simple assault, theft and harassment, Garrett recently waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Christian Frey and remains free on $75,000 bail.
