Additional charges for Williamsport man for allegedly stealing from his elderly mother

Arrested earlier this year for stealing $6,900 from his elderly mother, Timothy Edward Sloop now faces a new series of felony charges after city police discovered the 41-year-old city man stole an additional $24,650 from her, it was alleged in court papers filed at the office of District Judge Christian Frey. Upon reviewing additional bank statements belonging to the woman, police allege Sloop, 41, formerly of the 1600 block of High Street, illegally wrote numerous additional checks to himself and then cashed using a cellphone between May 3 and Sept. 15, police alleged. Arraigned before District Judge Denise Dieter on charges of forgery, theft, receiving stolen property and illegal use of a cellphone, Sloop, of 636 ½ Market St., was initially jailed, but he has since been released on $25,000 bail. He has waived his preliminary hearings on all the charges in both cases.

Starting at $2.99/week.
