Muncy woman injured in motorcycle crash
A 19-year-old Muncy woman was being treated at UPMC Williamsport for injuries she suffered when the southbound motorcycle she was riding upset on Sulphur Springs Road, about 4 miles south of South Williamsport, at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday, according to state police.
The woman, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the cycle and thrown down a 35-foot embankment.
Once on the scene, emergency personnel quickly climbed down the embankment and began to assess and treat her injuries.
From the road, firefighters used a Z rope-rigging system to lower a backboard and a Stokes basket over the embankment to the first responders below. Emergency workers loaded the injured cyclist into the basket, which was then lifted back up onto the road. The woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The narrow winding road was closed by the state Department of Transportation for an hour due to the crash.
