Homeless man faces felony shoplifting charge

Jordan Patrick Charles, 32, who is homeless, was arrested shortly after fleeing Walmart, 1015 N. Loyalsock Ave., Montoursville, with an estimated $3,285 worth of merchandise about 10:20 p.m. on Dec. 1, borough police alleged in an affidavit. Upon being apprehended, Charles gave a false identification and false date of birth, police said, his identity was confirmed only after he was fingerprinted. It turned out there already was a warrant for his arrest in New York State, but no details were available in that case. Following his arraignment before District Judge William Solomon on a felony shoplifting and giving a false identification to law enforcement, a misdemeanor, he was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
