RALSTON – Volunteer firefighters from six communities battled a very intense blaze Friday night that quickly consumed a carport, a chicken coop and a shed at 164 Marsh Hill Road, about three miles south of here, Ralston Fire Chief Joe Engel said.
Engel could see an orange glow in the sky about a half a mile from the scene.
While all three structures were a total loss, firefighters were successful in stopping the flames from reaching the property owner’s home just 30 feet away, Engel said. There was a vehicle in the carport, he said.
There were no reports of injuries in the fire that was reported about 6 p.m. and took about 30 minutes to bring under control, Engel said. The property owner’s name was not released. Firefighters were on the scene until 7:30 p.m. dousing hot spots.
The cause of the fire was undetermined.
Besides Ralston, firefighters from Trout Run, Hepburn Township, Old Lycoming Township, Canton and DuBoistown responded to the fire.
