Williamsport man charged after hit-run

A Williamsport man is facing charges after he allegedly struck another vehicle in the 9000 block of South Route 220 on Dec. 14, 2024.

According to an affidavit, after striking the left rear area of a van, Ronnie Pierre Mills, 43, of 1162 Memorial Ave., exchanged words with the alleged victim while both were still driving, blaming him for the incident for driving too slow, he told police.

They agreed to pull over at a nearby business to exchange information, however upon reaching the parking lot, Mills fled the scene without providing insurance or contact information.

Police were able to recover parts from Mills’s 2015 Nissan Pathfinder and identified it as such by cross referencing the damaged part number, and along with a partial license plate number provided by the alleged victim, police identified Mills as the suspect. The alleged victim was able to identify Mills out of a photo lineup, according to an affidavit.

Contacted by phone, Mills allegedly denied being in any accidents, despite the alleged victim having identified him as the driver, and stated that he was unable to meet with officers in person due to being out of town, police said.

Asked who would’ve been driving his vehicle on the date of the accident, Mills said he did not know, and further related that he was unaware of the vehicle’s current location.

Mills was instructed to find out where his vehicle was, and to send pictures of its damage along with a photo of his insurance card. As of the date the charges were filed, police had only received his insurance information, according to court documents.

District Judge Denise Dieter arraigned Mills on charges of accidents involving damage to attended vehicles, failure to give information and render aid, speeding, careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes, and was released on $15,000 bail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
