Tragedy was averted early Wednesday morning when a resident discovered just in time a fire near his kitchen in his family’s Fairfield Township mobile home, according to Tyler Schramm, Montoursville deputy fire chief. Smoke was coming from the front door when firefighters arrived on the scene of 179 Old Cement Road about 3:10 a.m, he said, adding that all occupants were already safely out of the property. The fire, ruled electrical in nature, was confined to an electric fryer, a stand and a section of a wall, shown here, Schramm said. The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes and no one was injured or displaced by the incident.

Concerning another area emergency call , city firefighters quickly doused a dryer fire that broke out at Danzer Vaneer Americas, 240 Reach Road, about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday. Once the fire was extinguished, the company was able to resume full operation, fire officials said.
