Local doctors remember Senator John McCain

Local doctors Grace and Jason Shu remember when John McCain ran for president in 2008 with running mate Sarah Palin.

“He told us that he always put his country ahead of himself,” Jason Shu said. “It was clear that he sincerely loved America.”

“Senator McCain spent time talking with everyone in my family,” Grace Shu said. “He enjoyed discussing China and foreign policy issues with us. He knew a lot about Chinese history, including some emperors and dynasties. That was impressive.”

Grace Shu serves as chair of the bi-partisan Asian-American Voters Coalition, chair of the Chinese-American Republican National Federation, and minority chair of the Lycoming County Republican Committee.

“May God be with and comfort Senator McCain’s family during this difficult time,” Grace Shu said. “History will always remember him.”
