Interior design company changes location

It took three locations for a local interior design and installation company to find their fit.

Their Hughesville location, open since March, allows Artisan Kitchen and Bath Design to ensure their quality, and variety, through a showroom and connected warehouse, said Dan Fuller, owner.

“Our first show room was on Walnut Street in Williamsport,” he said. “Then we moved to Fourth Street in Williamsport and then we moved to Market Street in Williamsport. Each time, we outgrew the space.”

As shipments came in, personal inspections weren’t easy to carry out, he said.

“This opportunity came up in the last year where we could have four times the showroom, plus a warehouse,” said Fuller.

As many companies Fuller orders from use common carriers, there can be “a lot of damage,” he said.

Large chain home improvement stores often push their salesmen to sell a certain brand of cabinets or flooring through kick-backs the salesmen receives in commission. However that isn’t found at Artisan Kitchen and Bath Design. The customer is matched with the best product for their home, he said.

The move, to 714 Route 405, Hughesville, also placed the store closer to many customers, whose jobs Fuller said he enjoys as a “challenge putting it all together.”

After more than 20 years in the industry, Fuller said his nitche is the store’s ability — and designed purpose — to be a one-stop shop.

Many people come in knowing what they have in mind, he said.

“I’ll just take it from there from start to finish,” he said. “They can actually get everything for the project here.”

Artisan Kitchen and Bath Design also deals in a variety of prices.

We have the low end stock cabinets, which are very price conscious, all the way up to fully customized cabinets,” said Fuller, adding that he carries eight different cabinet lines with finance options available.

Fuller’s right hand man with 10-years of experience is David Taylor, who agreed with Fuller.

“We’ve been very diligent of bringing in products from companies that you don’t see in a lot of other stores to give us a first price advantage,” he said.

With good help being hard to find, the two said they work well together.

“Dan leans on me for all the flooring, I lean on him for the tile and all the kitchens,” said Taylor. “We can cover everything.”
