M&M focuses on family, customer service

Edgar Miller Jr. started M&M Paving and Excavating in 1971 on a farm in Montour County.

From those humble origins, Edgar grew the business and moved it to Williamsport in 1988. This year is their 50th Anniversary.

“We serve central and northeastern Pennsylvania,” he said. “We are a paving and excavating contractor. We cover all types of maintenance from repairs to major construction. We do paving, milling of pavement, all types of excavation, concrete, and line striping. We also do landscaping.”

Located at 2715 McCoy St., the business includes Edgar’s son, Eddie Miller III.

The elder Miller calls M&M a family business with Christian values and good customer service.

But he gives much of the success for the business to his employees.

“I don’t take any credit,” he said.

The robust economy of recent years, he said, hasn’t hurt his business.

“I love this industry,” he said.

He called it a “great honor” that customers bestow their trust in M&M and allow the business to do jobs for them.

M&M does residential, commercial, industrial work and projects involving municipalities and state and federal government.

Over the years, Edgar noted, the business has done a lot of work for PPL.

Edgar said he has never been in business for the money.

“The Lord has provided,” he said.
