Dr. Robert L. Williams, of Linden, recently was awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Supervision and Curriculum award at the annual conference of the Pennsylvania Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development held at the Monroeville Conference Center.

Williams was presented this award for his exemplary accomplishments over time in the areas of teacher supervision and curriculum development and leadership.

In his letter of recommendation, Dr. Richard Nilsen, PASCD executive director in part wrote, “In solving problems and addressing difficulties, Dr. Williams has always remained calm and has been able to generate creative solutions to solve problems. … He is hard working and willing to put long hours in to see a job fully completed. … Dr. Robert Williams’s personal and leadership qualities are exemplary especially as it relates to chairing the PASCD Supervision and Evaluation committee. … Dr. Robert Williams also has proven to be highly motivated, well poised, cooperative, and personable. He has taken on the role of Chairperson of the PASCD Supervision and Evaluation committee with confidence, energy and enthusiasm and has proven to be effective with all kinds of PASCD constituencies. … In working with Dr. Robert Williams on a number of major issues he has proven to be an excellent educator, leader, and administrator.”

In Nov. 2014, Williams was awarded the PASCD Robert V. Flynn Memorial Award for his outstanding accomplishments in the field of teacher supervision at both the state and local level. At the state level, he advised the Secretary of Education’s development team in creating a state teacher supervision model. At the local level, in 2009 he led the Williamsport Area School District in being awarded the PASCD Blue Ribbon Award for having an outstanding Teacher Supervision and Evaluation plan that met all of the PASCD model plan criteria.

Last November, Williams was awarded the honor of being named Distinguished Educator by Renaissance Learning. In this capacity, Williams was evaluated on a set of criteria for how he used data and individualized computer instruction with his staff in differentiated student instruction in order to raise the student achievement level in mathematics and reading at the Hepburn-Lycoming Primary School.

He retired July 31, 2015 as principal of Hepburn-Lycoming Primary School. He continues as the chair of teacher supervision and evaluation on the PASCD executive board.
