Annual Top Hat dinner celebrates and honors senior class

The Top Hat dinner celebrates the academic achievement of the top five percent of the students in the senior class. These students are asked to invite one faculty member from Williamsport High School and two family members to join them at the dinner, organized by the senior guidance counselor Ms. Sieber.

Sieber spoke before the meal, welcoming all in attendance, and again during the closing remarks toward the end of the evening. Dr. Pardoe, head principal at Williamsport Area High School, also gave a speech at the dinner. He congratulated the students for their great achievements, thanked them for all their efforts, and gave them advice for their future.

Sarah Niklaus was one of the students honored at the dinner.

“The Top Hat Dinner was a super fun and heartwarming experience, and a reminder that the best and most meaningful parts of high school are the relationships we develop. You could really see how much teachers care about their students, and vice versa,” Niklaus said.

The dinner was a highlight for Kayleigh Early also.

“I think it’s really nice that the school takes the time to put together a dinner for students that excel academically. Having the opportunity for teachers, students and their family members to socialize, enjoy themselves and appreciate their accomplishments is pretty awesome,” Early said.

“It was so uplifting to see that these four years have paid off, and I’m so thankful for everyone,” said Gianna Rizzo, senior.

“It’s always inspiring to see the very best students being recognized for their greatness. I was very humbled this evening to know that I played a small part in their success. Seeing the students, their families and some amazing educators come together to celebrate made for a great evening,” said Mrs. Swink, Rizzo’s teacher whom accompanied her to dinner.
