Lycoming College recognized for satisfaction and programs

Lycoming College received national recognition for its individualized and engaging academic program by being named a College of Distinction for three years running. Additionally, the College was honored for its student success and satisfaction with specific programs, including business administration, education and the Center for Enhanced Academic Experiences (CEAE).

Colleges of Distinction awards are unique among popular college guide classifications. Lycoming College earned its recognition for the excellence exhibited in the classroom and the ways in which it incorporates high-impact learning experiences throughout every student’s education. Such student-centered initiatives include faculty-led research, internships, global travel courses, living-learning affinity communities, civic engagement, outdoor leadership and innovative cross-disciplinary programs.

Schools are accepted on the basis that they adhere to four points of distinction: Engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community and successful outcomes.

Lycoming College’s business administration program, with concentrations in finance, marketing and management, as well as a new minor in entrepreneurship, keeps future leaders adaptable as they grow alongside their industry.

Lycoming College is known for graduating future educators who are not only knowledgeable, but effective mentors who provide empathetic support and employ modern teaching methods. The education program offers certification in conjunction with a degree from a range of liberal arts disciplines, such as biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, history, English, languages and the arts.

Career development

Many students find themselves asking “What am I going to do after graduation?” Schools awarded the Career Development badge have shown that they are well equipped to help students graduate with confidence.

“Students thrive when they embrace hands-on learning in a vibrant, welcoming community. Colleges of Distinction doesn’t rank schools, because we know that every student is different in what they need to best learn, grow and succeed,” said Tyson Schritter, chief operating officer for Colleges of Distinction. “Lycoming College puts the student experience first, providing all the tools and opportunities students need to become lifelong learners who are ready to take on any challenge in today’s ever-evolving society.”
