Williamsport presents 45th annual All-District Orchestra Concert
The Williamsport Area School District music department will present its 45th annual All-District Orchestra concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, in the auditorium at Williamsport Area High School.
The program will feature the talents of more than 450 students in grades four through 12, serving as a “snapshot” of the district’s comprehensive orchestra program.
Featured groups and ensembles will include a beginner orchestra video presentation, the fifth- and sixth-grade orchestras from Lycoming Valley and Curtin Intermediate schools, seventh- and eighth-grade orchestras from WAMS, WAHS’s combined orchestras and the Millionaire Strolling Strings.
Curtin’s Chamber Orchestra also will be featured, as they have been selected to perform at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) annual state conference in April.
The evening’s program will conclude with a grand finale featuring all 450 students.
The district’s orchestra program has consistently had invitations for its string ensembles to perform and its faculty to present professional development at the regional, state and national level for the past 12 years. In addition to this honor, Williamsport and the WASD music programs have been named as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” by the NAMM Foundation for the past 17 of 18 years.
The All-District Orchestra Concert is free and open to the public, and will be under the direction of under the direction of Danielle Johnson, Kathleen Mondell, Anna Radspinner and Matthew Radspinner.
