WVIA launches Nightly Storytime

To inspire and encourage reading at home, VIA has launched Nightly Storytime with VIA. Each night on the WVIA Education Facebook page, members of the VIA Education department and other staff members will read to viewers and their families using books received in a recent grant from the United Way and First Book. This is to connect, educate and entertain the community during this time.

Nightly storytime with VIA will be held at 7 p.m. weeknights on WVIA and WVIA Education Facebook pages. For more information, email kirstensmith@wvia.org.

In addition to supporting lifelong learning, VIA Public Media is also opening up its entire online collection of documentary films spanning over 30 years, dating back to 1987’s ‘A Journey to the Endless Mountains’ all the way through ‘Peoples of the Susquehanna River’ from 2017.

Viewers can explore regional history through films such as “The Extraordinary Journey,” “Looking to the River,” “Ubaldo” and many more.

The collection is available to watch on nearly every platform: Online at wvia.org, on mobile devices through the VIA Mobile App or on Smart TV’s and streaming devices with the PBS Video App.

This is the latest WVIA initiative to help families and educators throughout the Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania region to continue education at home in this time of need.
