Tristen Stelene, a freshman at Montoursville Area High School, is one of three nationwide students selected as a grand prize winner in the Scholastic National Contest: What Would You Run For? This contest asked students to identify an issue in their community and then run for an elected office to fix the issue.

Stelene wrote about running for the school board and implementing an improved recycling program at the high school. As one of three winners, he is the recipient of a laptop computer and a $1,000 grant to implement his recycling program at Montoursville Area High School. Stelene will be featured on the Levi Strauss blog Unzipped to discuss his ideas on democracy and how making small changes in a community can add up.
