Experts to instruct basics at Fly Fishing Extravaganza

LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven University will host a Fly Fishing Extravaganza from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24 on the University Commons lawn and Alumni Pavilion.

The event, sponsored by the LHU Recreation Management Department, is open to anyone who is interested in learning the basics of casting a fly rod.

Lance Wilt, expert angler, guide and owner of Outcast Anglers LLC and Brian Wilt, expert angler, LHU recreation management professor, will conduct a demonstration of basic fly-casting skills. Both group and individual instruction will be given to attendees, who will learn the skills of basic fly casting as well as learn about the rods, reels, lines and leaders. Questions will be welcome on any aspect of the sport.

This will be an entirely hands-on event, where the attendees will have the chance to cast the rods themselves. All equipment will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own rods.

There is no age requirement for this event and it is free and open to the public.
