Tiadaghton State Forest schedules events for October

Trek with Your Pet!

Friday, Oct. 9 — 5-6:30 p.m.

A Pet Friendly Hike. Bring your furry friend along on an easy-moderate 2-mile hike in Tiadaghton State Forest. Pets must be friendly with other people and animals and must remained on a leash at all times. Exact meeting location will be given to registered participants. Star-lit Skywatch

Saturday, Oct. 10 — 7-11 p.m.

As the day turns into night and the stars begin to shine, join the Central Pennsylvania Observers (CPO) to see and learn about the many incredible sights of the night sky. After a short presentation, we will head outside and use both telescopes and the naked eye to view a variety of celestial objects. You may bring your own telescopes or use ones provided by the CPO. If there is bad weather and viewing the sky is not possible, there will be an indoor presentation provided as an alternative. Registration required. Driving Tour

Friday, Oct. 16 — 2-5 p.m.

Meet at the Tiadaghton Resource Management Center (10 Lower Pine Bottom Rd, Waterville) and follow along on a guided driving tour of the Tiadaghton State Forest to see the beautiful colors as leaves change from their typical green to shades of fiery red, orange, yellow, and brown. We will travel on gravel forest roads suitable for most vehicles to view the changing colors, focusing on visiting 6 stunning vistas overlooking the Pine Creek Valley. Registration required. Hump Day Hike

Wednesday, Oct. 28 — 5-7 p.m.

Come and hike away the stresses of the week with this monthly, after work evening hike. Hike locations will change each month and will cover various terrains, lengths, and difficulty levels. Come to one or come to all! We will be sure to see something different each time. Expect a 2-4-mile hike on the 4th Wednesday of every month somewhere in the Pine Creek Valley. Halloween Night Hike

Friday, Oct. 30 — 7-8:30 p.m.

Come along as we venture into Tiadaghton State Forest for this easy, 2-mile, family-friendly hike after dark to discover the sights and sounds of the forest at night. Dress for the weather, it’s sure to be cool! Based in Waterville, but exact meeting location will be sent to registered participants.
